Finally, the much awaited ZenFone 3 range has been launched in India. This range includes the flagship ZenFone 3 Deluxe, the phablet device ZenFone 3 Ultra, the mid-range ZenFone 3 and the camera-centric Laser. Out of these, I felt, that the ZenFone 3 looks most stunning.
ZenFone 3 is the winner of a Computex 2016 D&I (Design & Innovation) Award. It has 5.5-inch / 5.2 inch Full HD (1920 by 1080) Super IPS+ display capable of up to up to 600nits brightness brightness. It too has a narrow bezel that allows it to have 77.3% screen-to-body ratio. The front as well as the rear of ZenFone 3 are protected by scratch-resistant 2.5D Corning® Gorilla® Glass. 2.5D means it has a slight curve near the edges. The shiny back panel seems like a finger-print magnet though.
The smartphone has 16MP primary camera. The camera is equipped with ASUS TriTech autofocus that can automatically select 2nd generation laser, phase detection and continuous auto focus for more accurate photos in 0.03 seconds.
It is the first smartphone that is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 octa‑core processor. This is the first of Snapdragon 600 Series processor with 14nm FinFET process technology. It also has an integrated X9 LTE. It is available in 3GB RAM / 32GB Memory (5.2”) and 4GB RAM / 64GB Memory (5.5”) variants. There is a finger print sensor at the rear.
In terms of looks, this mid-range smartphone is very striking. It may not be as slim as Deluxe, but it is shinier. Its design will definitely please users. When compared to the ZenFone 2, it looks very different and more impressive. The RAM/ROM and camera combination is good too.
The price of ASUS ZenFone 3 starts from INR 21,999. It is now available in various ecommerce platforms like Flipkart, Amazon, snapdeal, Shopclues and also at retail chain stores like Sangeetha Mobiles. This is probably the best priced smartphone in the new ZenFone range. Although, a below 20k price would have been more welcome. But considering its appearance, specs and price, I think it has more chances of success than the premium devices in the range.
