Samsung has launched the third member of its Tizen based smartphone range. This is Samsung Z2. I am wondering why the second Tizen based smartphones of Samsung is called Samsung Z3 while the third is called Z2.
Anyway, Samsung Z2 is an entry level smartphone and bears a very low price tag. Being Tizen based, it has simple user interface for the ease of people transitioning from the feature phone.
Commenting upon the launch of this Tizen based 4G smartphone, Mr. Manu Sharma, Vice President, Mobile Business, Samsung India Electronics, said “Samsung Z2 makes 4G accessible and relevant to the unique needs of feature phone users and first time smartphone buyers. It brings consumers a fast and affordable mobile internet experience that will democratize 4G usage in the country.”
Let’s see what Samsung Z2 offers to the users:
Samsung Z2 runs on the Tizen operating system. It is equipped with 1.5GHz Quad-core processor. The RAM is 1 GB and the internal storage is 8 GB. This is expandable up to 128 GB using a microSD card. Z2 supports dual SIM. It has 1500 mAh battery. The display is 4” WVGA screen. The rear camera is 5 megapixel with LED flash. There is also a VGA front camera.
Being a Tizen based smartphone, Z2 has a simple user interface. It comes pre-loaded with some essential apps. The important features of Samsung Z2 include the Ultra Power Saving Mode, Ultra Data Saving mode, S Bike mode and Money Transfer.
When the UPS or Ultra Power Saving mode is on, it stops all non-essential functions of the phone. This preserves the battery for essential functions like calling and messaging.
The UDS or Ultra Data Saving mode can save up to 40% mobile data. This is done in two ways. The UDS blocks unnecessary background applications from using data. It also makes use of data compression technology which saves more data.
The S Bike mode ensures more convenient and comfortable riding. It blocks out unwanted calls and prevents the user from using phone while driving.
The Money Transfer is a built-in app that helps in making the mobile banking easy and generates mini statements.
The mobile malware threats are rising. To protect the users against these threats, Samsung Z2 comes pre-installed with McAfee® VirusScan® mobile security and anti-malware technology. (As per the information I got from Intel Security.)
Jio Preview offer:
Z2 users can get free Jio SIM and also free limited-time access to 4G voice and data services.
Samsung has pratnered with Jio to bring complementary Jio services to selected Samsung smartphone users. The Tizen based Z2 is one of these selected devices. The Jio preview offer is a limited time free trial offer. When activated, the Z2 users can gain free access to Jio Beats that has millions of songs in over 20 languages. They will also get free access to Jio On Demand to watch movies, TV Shows and other video content.
