On 9th August, LG Electronics launched a new series of smartphones called the Q series. The first smartphone in this series is LG Q6. It is a mid-range smartphone boasting of having features similar to the premium-range LG G6 smartphone. These include features like facial recognition and the Fullvision display.
Commenting on the occasion, Mr. Amit Gujral, Chief Marketing Officer, LG Electronics India said, “LG Q6 is a perfect example of Usability and Aesthetics. It offers Full Vision Display (18:9) which happens to be first in Industry at the price point it offers. With the introduction of this new range, we have ensured that consumers are able to enjoy the best of technology from the house of LG at price points that are well-suited to all of them. The bold, innovative features of the phone will provide an unmatched smartphone experience to them. Now every user will have a personalized product experience with the new Q6 range.”
Highlights of LG Q6 – Specifications and Features:
LG Q6 is the first midrange smartphone having LG’s proprietary FullVision display technology. This FullVision display gives the device a bezel-less form factor. The smarphone has 5.5-inch FHD+ FullVision display with 18:9 aspect ratio which makes gaming and viewing media more immersive. As per LG, the Bezel-less form factor of the device maximizes the screen while still preventing accidental touching of the display when the device is in hand. I don’t think it has Corning Gorilla Glass protection.
This dual-SIM device is equipped with Qualcomm Snapdragon™ 435 Mobile Platform processor. It has 3GB RAM and 32GB ROM. The Operating System is the latest Android 7.1.1 Nougat and the device is powered by 3,000 mAh embedded battery. This is a decent set of specifications that should ensure stable and quick performance. However, at this price, smaller brands are offering devices with higher specifications. This might cause Q6 to have a tough battle while competing against other similarly priced smartphones, despite having premium features like facial recognition and Fullvision display.
LG Q6 has 13MP Standard Angle rear camera and 5MP Wide Angle front camera. The front camera has a 100-degree wide angle capability. This will help in getting groupies of many family members or a large group of friends. As per LG, the camera’s LG UX 6.0 takes advantage of the 18:9 aspect ratio of the FullVision display. The camera modes include Square Camera.
LG Q6 has a minimalist and sleek design with ergonomic curves and rounded corners. There is no camera bump at the back, adding to the smooth appearance of the rear panel. The sturdy metallic frame around it adds to its style. Q6 measures 142.5 x 69.3 x 8.1mm and weighs 149g. It is available in Astro Black / Ice Platinum / Terra Gold colour options.
5. Safety & Durability:
LG Q6 comes with LG’s proprietary Face Recognition feature. With this feature, users can secure and unlock the smartphone with greater speed and less hassle. There is no fingerprint sensor though.
The G6 does not have a full metal body. But the ‘H Beam’ metal frame surrounding it is made up of 7000 series aluminum. This is one of the highest strength aluminum and adds sturdiness and durability to the device.
