LG Electronics recently launched three new smartphones. Announced with the tagline of #ThreeIsIn, these three smartphones are part of LG’s new W Series. They have a Full Vision display with three options for display notches. And two of these new phones come with a triple rear camera setup. But the highlight of these phones is that they are very competitively priced. LG’s pricing strategy has so far leaned towards the expensive spectrum. But the W Series phones are aggressively priced and bring good specifications set, quality, and LG’s brand value at a budget-friendly price.
Mr. Ki Wan Kim, Managing Director, LG Electronics, said “Today is a significant day for us at LG as we add three new smartphones to our product portfolio that is made. LG has always believed in bringing customized innovations that offer need-based propositions. Therefore, in every market, we listen to our consumers and reflect that feedback on our products. This philosophy has enabled us to remain at the top and we aim to achieve similar success with our new W-Series smartphone range.“
The highlights of LG W Series Smartphones:
LG W10 Specifications
Three variants:
As mentioned earlier, the W Series has been launched with three smartphones. These are W10, W30, and W30Pro. As you can guess, W10 is the cheapest of the three.
All these three devices offer a good set of specifications. One major difference between the three is that the triple rear camera setup is only available in W30 & W30 Pro. Also, these two devices have 16MP front cameras. W10 has only an 8MP front camera. W10 and W30 have similar RAM/ROM and processors. W30Pro has more power. All three have 400mAh batteries, but only W30Pro comes with fast charging capability. They all look sleek, stylish, and have shiny smooth backs. When it comes to audio, W30Pro has the Stereo Pulse speaker for enhanced sound output.
Camera:
The camera has become one of the most important parts of our smartphones. So, smartphone makers focus a lot of attention on adding impressive camera setups to their smartphones. We now have a dual camera, triple camera, even a smartphone with a flip camera.
Phones with dual rear cameras or triple rear cameras are usually priced above ten thousand rupees. But LG makes them available in W Series at less price.
LG W10 comes with a Dual Real Camera (13MP PDAF / 5MP FF) and an 8MP front camera. LG W30 and LG W30Pro have triple rear camera modules. The three camera lenses are for low light, depth, and wide-angle shots. They support modes like normal, night mode, portrait, slow motion, and wide-angle. The front camera in W30 and W30 Pro is a 16 MP camera with a bokeh effect, beauty features, etc.
LG W Series smartphones with customizable notch
Display
LG W Series smartphones have a FullVisionTM display with a thin bezel. The W30 and W30 Pro also support customizable notches. Users can choose from two different types of notches or remove the notch for a more traditional look.
Audio:
LG W30Pro comes with a Stereo Pulse technology. This feature utilizes the internal space of the smartphone as a resonance chamber. This doubles the bass and delivers a more powerful sound. It’s a pity that this feature is not available in W10 or W30.

Overall, the W series of smartphones seem like an attractive option for those looking for good quality smartphones at affordable prices. Some smartphones by Chinese brands can bring better specifications at a lesser price. But they lack the brand value and quality assurance of LG. I hope LG would provide regular security updates to W Series phones, even if they are not premium devices. Good quality, features, regular updates, and good after-sales service matter as much as a hefty specification set at a cheap price. For W Series phones to be successful, LG will need to take care of all these. It will be interesting to see how W Series smartphones perform against their competitors.
